Who Should Control Deerfield Beach's Future?

The answer is simple: Deerfield Beach voters.

The Summary (TLDR);

For decades, our City Charter has protected residents’ right to vote on major decisions that shape our community, our neighborhoods, and affect our safety and quality of life.

On November 3, 2026, voters will be asked to remove their own voices from the Deerfield Beach Charter Amendments' decision-making process. Charter Amendments 11.01, 11.02, and 7.09(2) safeguard our beach and city. A yes vote would TRANSFER the decision-making power from the voters to the City Commission.

No matter where you live in Deerfield Beach, voting yes on these proposals will cancel elections and extend the currently seated Deerfield Beach Commission 20 extra months of office beyond their term limits.

Revising the Charter protections will diminish our city’s unique character, increase traffic, and reduce the quality of life for everyone.

Ballot Question D:
Shall the Charter be amended to change Commission elections from March of odd-numbered years to November of even-numbered years beginning November 2028 to increase voter participation and decrease election costs, resulting in term extensions of approximately 20 months for all current Commissioners and the Mayor to maintain staggered terms, with no elections held in March 2027 or March 2029 and all future terms remaining four years?

Question D, under the guise of moving elections from March to November, would also grant term extensions and 20 extra months in office for the entire, currently-seated commission (the mayor and all four commissioners). It would also cancel our upcoming, next two scheduled local municipal elections.

Amendment E | Referendum Requirement for Certain City Property Transactions

Ballot Question:
Shall the Charter be amended to remove the requirement that voters approve at a referendum election, and instead authorize the City Commission to approve, the sale, gift, trade, transfer, or lease of all or a portion of, or an interest in, city-owned real property with a fair market value exceeding $750,000, thereby eliminating the additional time and cost of conducting referendum elections for such transactions?

Question E removes the voters' power to approve via referendum the sale, lease, transfer, or donation of high-value public property over $750,000 thousand dollars, and allows three Commissioners to approve a sale or lease without a voters' approval. For example WOULDN'T YOU want a vote if three commissioners wanted to sell city land to a DATA CENTER? Don't give up that right! VOTE NO.
